Welcome to the Girl with the Patchy Pants

Welcome to me! Okay, I’ll grant that sounds kind of stupid, but really what else is a site like this about other than to invite people into your life? I’m hoping to open the door to me and that you find me interesting. I’m a writer, a HUGE crafter, a baker, an Alaskan, a little bit funny and a lot dark, you are bound to find almost anything here. I’m off beat, unusual and tend to just do and say what makes me happy. Why ‘girl with patchy pants’? Well, in a way it best describes me in a quick way. I don’t have any non decorated pants, frankly I don’t see why I should wear anything that looks like what everyone else is wearing if I have a choice, but it’s more than that. Some pants I have patched or decorated just so I have something awesome to wear, some I’ve patched as a repair, only I don’t bother to try and hide it. Why not get new pants? Probably because I grew up poor and I just can’t bring myself to toss out something I could reasonably repair. One pair I’ve added so many patches that they are now my favorite and I always get compliments on them when I’m out.

I really was not kidding about you finding almost anything here. I have an insatiable need to learn how to do things and a need to always be busy. ALWAYS. Currently I have two different things I can do in my purse, and yet the other day I also brought some felting along with me to do in a restaurant. So what do I do? I write, I bake, sew, costume (yes, it does deserve it’s own listing), felt, crochet, knit, nalbind, quilt, stain glass, spin in more than one way, garden, I’ve carved stamps, do all kinds of repairs, clean skulls, various types of weaving, embroidery…hell, I know there are things I’m forgetting and there’s things I still want to learn, like pottery and Sprang.

Obviously I’m not made of only butterflies and unicorns, my life has it’s shitty side too. Most notable my various illnesses, lack of children, 24/7 pain, and how the drug war very negatively effects my life at times. You will also hear about these things, because they make up part of who I am and if I’m going to be sharing myself with you, I’m going to share it all. I’m not really an expert about anything I write about, but I also don’t get easily offended, so if you have a real and polite question, please ask!
