Poor Hungry

Today K and I decided to do nothing to recover from Thanksgiving and a week of busting our asses cleaning, and we were watching a show called “Mysteries of the Abandoned.” The show basically covered abandoned structures and places around the world and goes over what happened there and why it’s actually rather interesting.

We watched an episode that covered the Red Star Railways train graveyard in Hungry. The short version is that it is where the trains used during Nazi and Soviet rule have basically ended up. I mention that it was sad that the building and trains are just sitting there and slowly dying, although I understood why it might not be something the locals wanted reminded of because of it’s very dark history. K tossed in that Hungry was also poor, so rehabbing or keeping it up isn’t likely high on their list.

Lightening the mood I joked that I haven’t yet bought any cheap handmade stuff from Hungry (on Etsy). I find a lot of truly amazing handmade stuff in places like Lithuania and Estonia for WAY cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. And I’m not talking about poorly made stuff either. I’ve gotten a lot of really nice reenacting gear that way. Then I mention that maybe Hungry isn’t as into reenacting in the time periods we play in.

K’s response?

“They just aren’t Hungry for it yet.”

GROAN.

That’s right boys and girls, you don’t have to be a dad to have dad humor.
